The Day Trippers are a Vancouver based Beatles tribute band, transporting you back to the touring days of the early 1960s, embodying the exuberance and spirit the Beatles brought to the stage. Inspired by the mod culture and a love of blues and pop music, The Day Trippers deliver the incredible music of The Beatles at their energetic peak.
Marty Zylstra as "John"
Marty grew up in various places across Canada from northern British Columbia to the prairies to Northern Ontario and back. He learned to sing listening to old time rock and roll as a kid and eventually took up the guitar, influenced by his musical hero John Lennon. When not singing his favourite Beatles songs with The Day Trippers, he records and performs as a solo artist.
David Hopia as "Paul"
Dave plays the, ah, bass. He has been an active musician in the lower mainland for years, performing in many bands, both original projects and cover groups. He is a multi-instrumentalist playing piano, guitar, and bass (left handed by the way!) and has developed a fantastic McCartney tribute to bring to the stage. Dave also operates his own recording studio and works with various artists from the area, acting both as engineer and producer. The Beatles have always been an influence on his musical sensibility and it comes through both on stage with The Day Trippers and in the studio.
Mike Coutts as "George"
Mike was born and raised in Vancouver and has always had a passion for music, sparked by listening to his parents' Beatles albums as a kid. Their incredible music inspired Mike to pick up the guitar at the age of 19 and see where it would lead. Being the youngest in the band, he found a kindred spirit in George Harrison and has sought to bring that special something "the quiet one" possessed to the stage with The Day Trippers.
John Stoltz as "Ringo"
Born and raised in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, John comes from a large family and had plenty of music to listen to including his sister's Beatles LPs. He was only 4 when he caught the "Beatle bug" and started drumming at the age of 9 as a direct result of The Beatles. He's been in rock bands since he was 11 years old and has toured and recorded with some of Canada's most loved artists. He can often be seen playing locally and abroad and also records drums at his home studio. Unlike Ringo, John has never had a passion to open a hair salon but instead has a crazy soft spot for vintage things like Kiekhaefer Mercury outboards and vintage boats of the 50's and 60's.
